Royals of the future...

2 May 2017

Reading FC players of the future unveiled ahead of the 2017-18 season!

We are pleased to announce that the list of names below are the young Royals who will be joining the Reading FC Academy for the 2017-18 season – the players were presented to the crowd on Saturday as a new group of budding young footballers who will be hoping to one day cross the white line and play for the Royals!

These boys will be playing in the Under-9 Premier League Category 1 Academy Games Programme next season against the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham. Thanks to our Recruitment Department, which includes Phil Antwi and Brendan Flanagan, we were able to identify these players from a group of more than 250 players who were scouted from the Reading, Oxford, London, Basingstoke and Swindon areas.

The players have been training three times a week and have been coached by our Foundation Phase Team including Marcus Herron, Craig Drummond, Lewis Goater, Steve Lapere, Jamie Greenwood, Kobina Elliott and Michael Pearce.

Our aim at the Academy is to produce "brilliantly technical players, who work tremendously hard". These boys have taken their first steps in emulating their idols, Jordan Obita and Liam Kelly, who have both been at the club since the age of 9, and who are now playing regularly in the Royals first team.
