Ulderink pleased to welcome players back to the fold

Experienced trio recovering well

With one match of the regular season remaining and at least two play-off outings to look forward to, Andries Ulderink has been pleased to welcome some experienced pros back to full training at a vital time for the club.

Paul McShane, Stephen Quinn and Joey van den Berg have all been unavailable in recent weeks – however the duo are all back out on the training field and getting back to fitness.

There could even be opportunities for some of those players to get some competitive minutes into their legs at Burton this weekend in order to expedite their return to sharpness.

“Most players are in a good place at the moment,” said Royals assistant boss Ulderink.  “Paul McShane, Joey van den Berg and Stephen Quinn trained all week, so they’re in a good place.  Garath McCleary is a serious doubt for the weekend, but we are expecting quite a fit team for Sunday.

“We will look at how those players react to training today, as we did quite a tough session.  But it is an option that some other players get some minutes on Sunday.

“There might be one or two players who as a staff we want to see, but we’re not going to swap six or seven players.

“We’ve spoken already about the importance of the game – it is important for us.  There may be a couple of different players and they have to be ready, and they may get some extra minutes to get them physically ready for the play-offs.”
