“Wednesday is a very good team as well, everybody knows their ability in the last couple of years and what they’ve done,” said Royals boss Jaap Stam ahead of the Sheffield club’s visit to Madejski Stadium. “We know that as well so we’re preparing for the Wednesday game and, playing at home, hopefully we’ll get a very good result.
“I think we’ve got chances against every team, including Sheffield Wednesday. We know they’ve got a good team, they’ve shown that last season and this season.
“We believe in ourselves as well that we can do well against any team, and it’s the same on Saturday, we’re going to go for it, hopefully we can show ourselves and get the win.”
It’s a chance for Reading to get back on track and keep that points-tally ticking over, having rescued a point in midweek at Bolton’s Macron Stadium. A win against Wednesday would take us within three points of our visitors.
Jaap continued: “We know that we need to win games. We talk about that every day. From the last six weeks, in how we’ve been performing, if we can keep doing that then I’m sure we’re going to be winning games.
“But the opposition is there as well, we know that every time we’re going to be facing a good team and making it difficult for us every time.
“We need to know what we need to do and how we need to play and defend and attack at times, to score first ourselves.”
