Team news | Royals name same eleven!

Popa replaces Richards on the bench in only change to the matchday squad...

28 November 2017

Jaap Stam has stuck with the same side that secured a point against Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend – the injury list finally allowing the Royals boss to name the same starting eleven for the first time this season!

The only change to the squad sees Adrian Popa replace Omar Richards to add some further attacking ability to the substitutes bench – while Yann  Kermorgant is fit enough to start his second successive game for the first time since surgery on a hip and groin issue in pre-season.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson continues to work on his match fitness following two appearances from the substitutes’ bench in the last week – he is again named as one of the seven replacements tonight.

Still on the sidelines are Garath McCleary, John Swift, Callum Harriott, Stephen Quinn, Joe Mendes, George Evans and Sam Smith.

Paul McShane captains the Royals once more against a side he fleetingly represented whilst on loan at Oakwell from Hull City back in 2011, while Barnsley’s captain is a former Royals Academy graduate – Angus MacDonald wears the Tykes’ armband. Barnsley are however without the suspended Adam Hamill tonight.

Reading: Mannone, Bacuna, Gunter, McShane (c), Moore, Van den Berg, Edwards, Kelly, Aluko, Barrow, Kermorgant.
Subs: Jaakkola, Blackett, Ilori, Clement, Beerens, Popa, Bodvarsson.
