Our Community Trust want to deliver ‘Boost Camps’ – a series of sessions in partnership with Bracknell Forest Borough Council which sit across a number of the Trust’s key pillars including Sports Participation and Health and Wellbeing. And the camps could also link with a number of Council strategies such as ‘Seamless Health’ and the ‘Children and Young People’s Mental and Emotional Wellbeing Strategy.’
Boost Camps would be week-long programmes which would see Reading Football Club’s Community Trust deliver activity sessions with young people across the Bracknell area, with the goal of supporting all the schools in the Bracknell Forest catchment in helping them be healthy schools; reducing childhood obesity, increasing specialist provision for children and young people with eating problems and dietary issues, enhancing the amount of physical activity undertaken in our local schools to improve educational attainment, whilst also boosting confidence and self-esteem with body image workshops.
Each week-long ‘Boost After School Club’ would see our Trust coaches work in partnership with selected primary schools to deliver intensive ‘after school club roadshows’ and they would be run in conjunction with weekly multi-sport sessions to increase the sports participation of the pupils. Each child would also be given a ‘Boost Band’ to wear at sessions, recording the number of steps each pupil takes and, when connected to an iPad, providing the participant and the coach with data that can help them set physical activity goals. The Trust has delivered pilot sessions with a number of partners in Bracknell already and have received excellent feedback – but we need your help to get funding to make this project happen!
The Aviva Community Fund offers you the chance to get funding for an important cause in your community. It’s open to everyone – but our project needs you to vote for it! Get enough votes from our fans and ‘Boost Camps’ could be rolled out in the local area very soon! Simply click here to vote for our Community Trust.
