Royals forward Yann Kermorgant has yet to kick a ball in competitive action this season, following an injury picked up during pre-season training. But Royals boss Jaap Stam revealed that he is edging closer to a return.
While this weekend’s trip to Sheffield United may come a bit too soon for the Frenchman, it shouldn’t be too much longer before he is available for selection again.
“Yann is back in training with the group – he’s not doing everything yet, because he can’t rush it,” Jaap explained.
“But in the sessions that he is doing with the team, including in the 11 v 11, he is doing very well and it’s looking very promising.
“He has a great character and a great mentality. Everybody knows that from last season and previous seasons as well. He has been very important for us – he is a driving force for our squad.
“That’s not only on the pitch – that’s also off the pitch, how he talks to players and what he expects from them and what they need to do. You need these types of players within the squad.”
