Vito Mannone maintains his belief that the Royals can be challenging at the top end of the table this season.
The goalkeeper admits it hasn't been the start the club was hoping for this season, but with plenty of games to go, he's driven to achieve as much as possible this term.
Having signed from Sunderland in the summer, Mannone is single-minded in his targets for his career with the Royals.
“There’s only one achievement I want, which is promotion," he said. "That’s why I came here. For me, nothing has gone yet, but we need to stay together, work together as hard as possible.
“We need to follow the guidelines of the coaching staff and the gaffer because we can achieve everything, and everything is still possible.”
Having moved to a completely different part of the country to play for the Royals, Mannone says he feels comfortable in his new surroundings as he hopes to kick on with the club.
“I’m very settled now, I know the place, I know the guys, I know what the coaching staff want from me.
“I’m really enjoying my time, I think I’m in the right place and in a very, very good club with lots of ambitions.
“We didn’t have the start that we wanted but there are still 35/36 games to go. It’s a long way, we still need to improve, we know that, but we’re working hard to do it.
"We want to turn the season into a good one. I believe we have all the potential to do it!”
The Royals return to league action this Saturday, travelling to face high-flying Leeds United at Elland Road.
