A group of soldiers embarked on a 12-hour charity challenge this week, raising money within their regiment. As part of that challenge, they took to the pitch at Madejski Stadium to score a goal!
The group took part in an eclectic mix of challenges throughout the day, with a certain amount of money being donated to their cause, Scotty's Little Soldiers, depending on what it was they managed to achieve.
Grounds Manager, Adam Grantham, heard about the challenge and allowed the soldiers special access to the Madejski turf so they could complete a chunk of their 12-hour challenge.
They had the chance to raise more money for the charity by managing to feed a pony, leave the UK, score a try at a Premiership Rugby ground (so being at Madejski Stadium ticked off two challenges at once!) during their challenge, all the way down to less strenuous activities such as pulling a pint.
Scotty's Little Soldiers offer support to children and young people who have lost a loved one while serving in the British Forces, specifically through offering emotional support and putting on activities to help as much as possible through the bereavement process.
