Jaap Stam says preparations for the Royals' clash against Middlesbrough on Saturday are going well.
This will be the first of a Madejski double-header this week, with Nottingham Forest the visitors on Tuesday night.
Stam says he hopes his side will go out and put Boro under pressure from the get-go at the weekend.
On weekend preparations, Stam said: “It’s been going well, we’ve been working on what we need to do. Speaking about last week, then looking towards the Middlesbrough game, it’s been going well.
“You always talk about things we had agreements of in how to do it, sometimes you don’t do that because of certain reasons, then you speak with the team about it.
“Now we need to look forward to the Middlesbrough game and put them under pressure."
With Garry Monk's side having just come down from the Premier League last season, Stam is under no illusions of the challenges Boro will bring to RG2 this Saturday.
They were in Carabao Cup action in midweek, ringing the changes in a 3-1 defeat against Premier League side Bournemouth, with only one player starting following last weekend's 1-0 defeat at home to high-flying Cardiff City.
“It’s a team with a lot of quality," Stam added. "Certain players left but they still have a lot of quality within the squad, players who also played in the Premier League.
“You know it’s not going to be easy, even for them it’s not easy in the Championship. It’s a team that’s got potential to go up again to the Premier League.
“We’re aware of that and the ability they have but we need to have results as well, we have to go and face them in a certain way to do well.
