Reading FC Women have had four players called up for the England Women squad ahead of their opening 2019 World Cup qualifier against Russia!
Mary Earps, Jo Potter, Jade Moore and latest recruit Fara Williams have all be selected to the Lionesses side which will begin the road to France in two summers’ time with the opening qualifying group game on Tuesday 19th September.
The fixture takes place at Prenton Park – home of Tranmere Rovers – and it is the first time that so many of our senior women’s team have been called up to the national side!
Our representatives are joined by some of the other outstanding English players – including a host of players from clubs including Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona.
Goalkeeper Earps has a single cap to her name at senior level – that came against Switzerland last June, following an excellent season in Reading colours in which she was named in the PFA WSL Team of the Year.
Jade Moore and Jo Potter will be looking to add to 41 and 34 caps respectively, while Williams – who arrived from Arsenal last month – could build on her record-setting 165 appearances in an England jersey.
Our very best wishes to the Lionesses as they embark on a new campaign!
