We’re delighted to confirm that Danny Loader has been selected for England’s Under-17 squad to travel to India next month to take part in the U17 World Cup.
Steve Cooper’s side reached the final of the Under-17 European Championships earlier this year, and by virtue of their performance in the competition, they qualified for this autumn’s 24-nation competition in India.
After a training camp in Mumbai in the build-up – which involves a warm-up fixture against New Zealand – the Young Lions will head to Kolkata for their group stage.
Loader’s England are in Group F – their first pool fixture is against Chile on October 8th, then they face Mexico on October 11th, before finishing their group fixtures on October 14th against Iraq.
The top two from each group qualify for the next stage, while the four best performing third-placed sides from the six groups will also enter the knock-outs.
It’s another string to the bow for Loader and the Academy – the young forward has already debuted in our senior side this season whilst still aged 16, as well as captaining England’s Under-18 side.
And it offers us a chance to have another World Cup winner in our side! Luke Southwood returned from South Korea with an Under-20 World Cup winner’s medal earlier this year.
