Re-arranged Barnsley date confirmed

League match set for a Tuesday evening in November...

8 September 2017

A new date has been set for the Royals' Sky Bet Championship clash against Barnsley at Madejski Stadium.

The match will now be played on the evening of Tuesday 28th November, with kick-off set at 8pm in Reading on the night.

The one remaining Round Two fixture of this season’s Carabao Cup between Barnsley and Derby County has been moved to Tuesday 12th September – and that switch required the rearrangement of our home fixture against the Tykes and the Derby’s league game against Ipswich Town.

The EFL has sent their apologies to the clubs involved and importantly the supporters of those teams involved for any inconvenience caused.

However, the need to move the cup tie forward a week is required due to limited flexibility in the fixture schedule, alongside the fact that the winners of the Round Two tie between Barnsley and Derby County have been drawn against Tottenham Hotspur - who have the added complication of playing their home games at Wembley Stadium as well as being involved in the group stages of the Champions League.

As a club, we strongly opposed the postponement of this home fixture at such late notice – however following discussions between the relevant authorities and all the clubs concerned, we were faced with no other option but to accept a change of date.

We very quickly entered into discussion with Barnsley regarding a new suitable date for this fixture and the matter has been resolved as quickly as possible in order for both sets of fans supporters to re-arrange their plans surrounding the game.

Tickets already purchased for the game will remain valid for the new rearranged fixture against the Tykes and any fans who are unable to attend the fixture will be able to request a refund in accordance with our ticketing policy.  Tickets are scheduled to go on sale again on Monday 30th October at 9am.

Please note that the 'Season Ticket Tuesday' offer will apply for this fixture as originally planned once the tickets go on sale again.

To keep up to date with any fixture additions or alterations, supporters can subscribe to our ECAL calendar - this fixture change, for example, will automatically synchronise with your calendar on your phone, tablet or computer.
