Twenty is still plenty!

Other clubs follow Royals' lead in renewed away ticket price cap policy!

25 September 2017

Last season, Reading Football Club chose to pioneer a new policy on away ticket prices...guaranteeing that all supporters, both home and away, would have the opportunity to buy Madejski Stadium matchday tickets that cost no more than £20!

In 2017-18, we have done exactly the same again.

We agree, with the Football Supporters Federation, that 'Twenty’s Plenty’ and our commitment to affordable football at Madejski Stadium continues.

For the second successive season, travelling adult fans who are Season Ticket holders or Members at their respective clubs, are be able to come and watch their team take on Jaap Stam’s Royals for just £20!

Not only that, but our home adult supporters are also able to purchase matchday tickets for just £20, ensuring that we are directly rewarding Reading supporters with the same ‘Twenty’s Plenty’ stance in the Eamonn Dolan Stand.

“At Madejski Stadium, we have always aimed to make football as affordable as possible for supporters of all ages as we recognise the considerable commitment fans make to our club,” explained Commercial Director Adam Benson last season.

“By also capping the price of advance away tickets bought by all travelling members and Season Ticket Holders who visit our South Stand this season, it will be more affordable for away supporters to come to Madejski Stadium."

At the start of last season, we personally wrote to all 23 of our fellow Championship clubs, encouraging them to follow our lead in the name of affordable football for all across the division and allowing Royals fans to also benefit from reasonable ticket pricing when they journey up and down the country. And we were delighted when both Cardiff City and Aston Villa agreed to reciprocate our 'Twenty's Plenty' policy.

We have done the same this season, contacting every club to encourage them to offer our away fans the same deal in the Championship in 2017-18.

Ipswich Town have this season introduced a similar policy, commiting to a £25 cap for supporters visiting Portman Road in 2017-18.

However we are delighted that not only have Cardiff City already agreed to a repeat of the cap of £20 on away ticket prices for our fans on the last day of the campaign, and the club are thrilled that both Birmingham City and Derby County also promised to follow the Royals' lead this season! We await reponses from a number of other clubs in the division.

Applying a ‘Twenty’s Plenty’ policy to our matchday ticket prices for so many supporters who visit the Madejski means that, as a club, we are actively helping football become even more affordable for fans – both home and away – for a second successive season.

And t
his recommitment to the pricing strategy demonstrates that Reading Football Club are listening to its supporters and football fans across the country – and we hope it will be a structure which other clubs continue to admire and adopt.

Fans are the beating heart of football and those who follow their team home and away should be appreciated.

Be here for the home games!
Our Madejski Stadium prices remain amongst the most competitive in the division for the new season. And our home form was the key to our third-place finish last year… make sure you come along whenever you can in the coming year!
