Ahead of the game | Preparing for Preston

A preview of our home meeting with the Lilywhites

6 April 2018

With the games ticking away, each one takes on added importance – and three points this weekend against Preston would be very welcome.

Reading vs Preston North End
Saturday 7th April, 3pm
Sky Bet Championship
Madejski Stadium

We were defeated by the Lilywhites earlier in the season at Deepdale, thanks to an early Jordan Hugill goal.

And the Deepdale side have quietly gone about their business ever since and stand just outside the play-off positions.

But, after a great atmosphere and result last time out at home, we’re looking to make it consecutive wins at Madejski Stadium!

Tickets are on sale now and will be available to purchase on the day of the game for all home supporters. For all ticketing enquiries, follow the link to our Ticket Office page or contact the Ticket Office by phone on 0118 968 1313.

There have been important changes in car parking and bus travel for the upcoming season, with parking at Madejski Stadium now having to be pre-booked online, as well as a continuation of our bus subsidies with Reading Buses. There are more places to park than ever before, though, so click here and find out what the best option is for you!

EFL title sponsors Sky Bet have Reading down as the underdogs at odds of 13/5, while Alex Neil’s North End are 11/10 favourites and a draw is priced 23/10.

Chris Martin is 6/1 to open the scoring with his first Madejski Stadium goal, while Sone Aluko is 8/1 to follow up on his belter last time at home with the game’s first goal.

Andrew Madley is the referee this Saturday – the fourth time he’s overseen a Reading fixture this season.  He was the man in the middle for our reverse fixture at Deepdale earlier in the year, as well as taking charge of away games at Millwall and Bolton.

Neil Davies and Lee Venamore are the assistants, while John Busby is the fourth official.

Also on...

Head over to the Fun Zone this weekend for loads of extra activities; we'll be giving away Easter Eggs, as well as World Cup sticker books and stickers up for grabs!

Plus, Nuffield our official gym partner will be on hand with their batak game for fans to try out.

Please note, on this occasion the players and staff will be arriving at Madejski Stadium much earlier than usual in a change to their pre-match meal and meeting routine.  Therefore supporters should be aware that there will be less opportunity ahead of the game to obtain pre-match autographs before this match only.

In memoriam

Ahead of tomorrow's game, we will be hosting a minute's applause to celebrate the life of Ray Wilkins, who sadly passed away earlier this week.  Our players will also be wearing black armbands.
