Final home game of the season beckons for the Royals

With safety in the Championship still not guaranteed for the Royals, there's plenty at stake at Madejski Stadium this weekend...

Reading vs Ipswich Town

Madejski Stadium

Five points separate the Royals from the bottom three in the Championship with two matches remaining, so a win for Paul Clement and his side against Ipswich will guarantee the Royals' place in the second tier next season.

All the more reason to be here backing the boys in RG2 this weekend! We need your support one last time to get the team over the line against Ipswich, who are comfortable in mid-table as it stands.

The Tractor Boys are managerless following the early departure of long-serving boss, Mick McCarthy, earlier this month. Bryan Klug is holding the reins at Portman Road until a new permanent manager is found, but Ipswich will be hoping to finish their season on a high.

For the Royals, centre-halves Paul McShane and Tommy Elphick will be hoping to work their way back from injury in time for the end of the season, while Sam Smith and Joseph Mendes will be pushing for a place in the squad after impressing for the U23s in midweek.

For the last time at Madejski Stadium this season, come on URZ!

Tickets are on sale now and will be available to purchase on the day of the game for all home supporters. For all ticketing enquiries, follow the link to our Ticket Office page or contact the Ticket Office by phone on 0118 968 1313.

EFL title sponsors Sky Bet have Reading as odds-on favourites for victory at Madejski Stadium, at a price of 17/20. Ipswich are available at 16/5 for the win, with the draw priced at 13/5.

With the Royals winning 1-0 on two out of three occasions with Paul Clement as manager, a repeat of that scoreline against Ipswich is priced at 6/1 with Sky Bet.

Keith Stroud will be in charge of proceedings at Madejski Stadium, for his third time in charge of the Royals this season.

The Hampshire official oversaw away wins against Derby County and Sunderland earlier in the campaign, and he has averaged a relatively high caution count of 4.3 yellow cards per match, also brandishing his red card seven times this season.

Mr Stroud will be assisted in RG2 by Mark Pottage and Graham Kane, while Tim Robinson will be on hand as fourth official.

Lap of Appreciation

Reading FC would like to request that all supporters remain in their seats for the completion of Saturday’s match.

The players and coaching staff would like to complete a lap of appreciation to thank you, our fans, for your support throughout the 2017/18 season, but will only be able to do so if the pitch remains clear.

The safety of players, managers, fans and match officials is of paramount importance and supporters who encroach on the pitch risk facing a banning order as well as a criminal conviction, while the club could also face a fine.

We therefore ask that you support us in this way and remain in the stands at all times.

Bus departure times from Madejski Stadium will be delayed by approximately 10 minutes after the end of the match this weekend to allow fans to stay behind for the lap of appreciation.

Thank you for your continued support.
