Vito hoping to keep the level up at Villa Park

Goalkeeper previews Villa visit

1 April 2018

The hero on Good Friday with a stoppage-time penalty save, Vito Mannone hopes that Reading can keep the level up this Easter when they go to Villa Park.

The Royals have a chance to record back-to-back wins if they can get the points against promotion-chasing Aston Villa… and the Italian believes that with a strong showing, it’s perfectly possible.

“We just need to stick together,” said Vito.  “We had some good moments and it was a great feeling against QPR with the fans behind us, and you could tell that everyone fought hard.  That’s what we need to take on from now on.

“Tuesday is another massive game.  We don’t care who is against us – we just want the points.

“This season hasn’t gone as we wanted, but we’ve got seven more finals.  So Tuesday will be a tough test, but we need to enjoy playing football.

“We need to be there on Tuesday evening with the same aggressiveness that we showed against QPR.  There’s another three points available on the table for us – we want to get them as soon as possible.”
