After two fixtures and two well-earned draws on the road, we’re back in RG2 on Wednesday evening – where we’ll welcome some Premier League opposition in the form of Watford.
There’ll be a winner on the night, one way or another. One side will progress to the Third Round of the Carabao Cup, and the tournament will end there for the other.
To get past the Hornets will be no mean feat. Three wins from three top-flights games mean that they sit joint-top of the Premier League table in the early stages; Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs are the only other teams that also boast a perfect record.
Watford are twice semi-finalists in the competition… both times just missing out on the big day out. It was eventual champions Nottingham Forest that defeated the Hornets in 1979, and then the 2005 runners-up Liverpool most recently.
After we knocked Birmingham out in the first round, now we’ll be aiming to halt Watford's progress at the Second Round stage this time – it's their first involvement, after receiving a bye in the previous round. If it’s level at the full-time whistle, it’s straight to spot-kicks.
