FULL-TIME | Reading 0-1 Bolton Wanderers

A frustrating afternoon as the visitors converted from one of their rare opportunities and Reading couldn't get level.  Yanic Wildschut with the game's only goal.

Meite squirms free but sees a shot blocked. And then Yiadom and Popa have a ball taken away and out for a corner.

Mannone comes up to attack...

Four added minutes for the Royals to try and get level. Wildschut's goal the difference at the moment.

Bolton using every opportunity to run down the clock.

Meite lifts in a cross but it's out for a goal-kick - which Alnwick spends an age to take.

Final Royals swap - Adi Popa on for John Swift.

Five minutes to get a leveller.

Time's ticking for the Royals, who have all of the ball but Bolton are defending deeper and deeper.

Böðvarsson was Baldock's target with a short pass in the area but it's snaffled away.

Sub for Bolton - Clayton Donaldson replaces Craig Noone.

So close to what would have been a stunning leveller.

Kelly lifts delicately over the Trotters' defensive line to find Swift on the run, who controls well and sets back to Böðvarsson, but it's smashed out of play by a defender before he can get his effort away.

Royals looking determined to get level.

First changes for Reading; Jón Daði Böðvarsson and Leandro Bacuna enter the fray, with Marc McNulty and David Meyler making way.

That could have been the equaliser!  But Alnwick claims gratefully.

Kelly's sumptuous free-kick was attacked by both Moore and McShane but neither could scramble in.

Lung-busting counter by Meite - travels from one box to the other, down the right.

Draws a foul just outside the area which Kelly will deliver.

Bolton make their second sub of the afternoon as Gary O'Neil replaces Luke Murphy.

Yellow card for Liam Kelly - closes down Jason Lowe and catches the Bolton man with a loose arm.

Swift can't wrap his foot around the ball enough and his shot is wayward.

Full-backs Blackett and Yiadom were both involved in the attack as bodies pour forward to try and find a leveller for Reading.

Into the final half-hour; the Royals trail by a goal.

Just past the post by Sam Baldock!

Some great footwork on the left flank by John Swift - he clips inside to Tyler Blackett, who was in support of the attack.  He sets for the striker, who makes a shooting angle, but can't apply enough bend.

So the Royals have an uphill task now, as the visitors have the advantage.

David Meyler tries to grab the leveller but he cuts across his left-footed effort from outside the area and misses high and wide.

Goal - Bolton lead 1-0 through half-time sub Yanic Wildschut.

Noone lofts a ball over the top and the run was timed perfectly. The Dutchman is clinical as he enters the area unchallenged.

We're off again - 45 more minutes to go!

0-0 as Marc McNulty gets the ball rolling in the second half.

But there is a half-time change for Bolton Wanderers.

Will Buckley withdraws, and Yanic Wildschut takes to the field.

Not long until the teams emerge from the tunnel.

All of our subs are out and stretching out, so doesn't look like any imminent changes at the break for Reading.

HALF-TIME | Reading 0-0 Bolton Wanderers

Lots of good openings for Reading, but goalkeeper Ben Alnwick has been there when it's needed for the Trotters.  Plenty of positives to take into the second half.

Two added minutes at the end of the first period, as Meite wins a corner for the Royals on the right.

And it's he who gets onto Kelly's delivery from the flag, but the glancing touch is too fine and it's out on the far side.

A chance on the break for Bolton, but Reading deal with the counter.

Magennis has to take his shot early from distance and that makes it a bit easier for Mannone to collect, untroubled.

We've got a stoppage; Liam Moore is down and in need of treatment.  Challenged Josh Magennis in the air and was left in a bit of a heap, clutching his foot.

But he's quickly back up and at it again, and he'll be fine to continue.

Royals getting closer but at the moment it's goalless.

Some lovely subtle touches in the build-up to the latest effort, which falls to John Swift, but he fires over from the edge of the area.  The midfielder was being closed down and had to rush his effort somewhat.

Another save by Alnwick!

He has been the busier of the two goalkeepers and again keeps the scores level.  This time it's Baldock, receiving from Kelly, who swivels into space in the area and a hammered effort is kept out at full stretch.

Bolton's best chance yet - and Vito Mannone does brilliantly to deny Will Buckley inside the box.

It looked like a push by Magennis on McShane but it goes unpunished... that allowed the Ulsterman to get to the edge of the area and tee up his teammate, but our Italian stopper got a strong palm on it.  Great stop.

Goalless at the half-hour mark.

Royals with the better of the chances but yet to find the back of Ben Alnwick's net.  An hour to go.

Chance for Meite... Wheater intervenes at the last moment!

The Royals man is sure that it's a penalty but the ref signals for a corner.  He'd been slipped in by McNulty and strongly held off his man to make the chance for himself and he looked favourite to finish, but the Bolton captain kept it out.

The first Royal to have his name taken is Tyler Blackett.

A mistimed tackle on Noone in the channel brings a yellow.

Since the opening five minutes or so, it has been the Royals in the ascendency.  But no goals to show for it yet.

Yakou Meite with the latest effort, after John Swift charged downfield.  But a deflection takes it into Alnwick's arms.

Some lovely football by the Royals as they float between positions to work the ball through the thirds.

The ball finds its way to Sam Baldock around 25 yards from goal, and he rifles a left-footed shot, but it's off target. Goalless as we approach the midpoint of the first half.

The two bosses, ahead of the match.

First booking of the game goes to Bolton skipper David Wheater.

The ref belatedly reached for his pocket - the Trotters man arrived late on Baldock as he played a pass.

It's that combo again - Baldock stabs a ball through to McNulty, who holds off a challenge and gets a shot away from a low angle.

It's blocked and squirms wide - Trotters breath a sigh of relief that it's just out of reach for Swift to turn in.

John Swift steps up to take the free-kick... incredible save by Ben Alnwick!

Diving high to his left, the stopper claws away from the top corner!  Royals can't force in on the follow up...

Lovely give-and-go between Baldock and McNulty - Baldock is fouled inside the D as he tries to receive in return.

Shooting chance for the Royals but the forward wanted a card shown for a cynical foul.

Bolton have had the better of it so far - but the Royals look to launch an attack as McNulty comes short to link the play.

He feeds Meyler, who skips through a tackle and tries to play in the overlapping Yiadom, but Taylor nips in and clears.

Dangerous start by Bolton - simple stuff too, with Josh Magennis providing an aerial threat and Josh Vela looking to get on the nod-downs.

Twice in the opening two minutes, the Royals have to scramble away close-range chances for midfielder Vela.

Bolton get the game started.

Royals are shooting towards the South Stand this half.

The teams are out of the tunnel - just the pre-match formalities to follow before we get underway.

Handshakes, coin-toss, pre-match photos... and then our referee Mr Linington will get the game going.

Come on URZ!

Gibbo and Parky catching up before the match!

But they'll be in opposing dugouts in just a few minutes' time... come on URZ!

No Mo Barrow today - he came off in the opening stages against Birmingham with a groin injury and isn't yet ready to rejoin the squad.

But a welcome return to the matchday 18 for Adrian Popa; the Romanian has been absent since pre-season through injury and is back in full training.
