FULL-TIME | Aston Villa 1-1 Reading

Sam Baldock strikes from the spot in the 93rd minute to give the gutsy Royals a share of the points at Villa Park!

Sam Baldock steps up...

1-1 in the 93rd minute!

Josh Sims races onto a ball and draws a foul from Elmohamady in the box!

Villa make a third sub - Neil Taylor comes on for Jonathan Kodjia.

As the game ticks into added time, Conor Hourihane fires over from the edge of the box.

There'll be three added minutes.

Three minutes of the game remaining and the hosts still ahead.

Royals pushing to level; Villa looking for chances to counter.

Wow - just wow.  How that stayed out, we'll never ever know.

Josh Sims' delivery was left and Baldock ghosted in - somehow Nyland turned it onto the bar from point-blank range.  Meite follows up and the goalie springs back up to palm around the post.  Still 1-0 Villa.

Ten minutes left to play, and the Royals make a third and final change.  On comes Marc McNulty, replacing Jón Daði Böðvarsson.

The hosts' sub Adomah has had two very similar chances since he's come on - both with identical outcomes.

Cutting in from the left, he's gone for goal but fired straight down the throat of Mannone, who has held comfortably.

Villa trying to kill the game off with a second goal and a well-worked move down the left sees Sims commit a foul, allowing McGinn a chance to deliver from a set-piece.

Meite is back defending and gets a strong head on the deep cross.

And Villa make their first change.  Anwar El Ghazi replaced by Albert Adomah.

Josh Sims comes on for our second sub - his second appearance in a Reading shirt.  Sone Aluko is the man to make way.

A good chance at one end for the Royals, followed seconds later by a counter and an opening for Villa.  Neither opportunity taken.

Bacuna found Aluko on the edge of the area and his powerful effort was blocked by Chester, winding the centre-half.  But Villa broke through El Ghazi, who laid off to Kodjia in the channel... powerful effort, just over.

Well-timed tackle by Tiago Ilori, sweeping away Conor Hourihane's low delivery.

It was Kodjia's trickery on the left that brought about the opportunity for the hosts but they couldn't turn it into a clear-cut chance.

Yellow card for Yakou Meite.  Judged to have caught Birkir Bjarnason a little late as he challenges for a loose ball - and after having committed a similar foul on James Chester a few minutes ago, the ref reaches for his pocket.

Goal - Aston Villa lead 1-0, as Ahmed Elmohamady turns in a cross.

Alan Hutton swung in from the left and the Egyptian headed in the teasing cross.  Advantage Villa.

Two 'nearly' moments already for the Royals after the break, but Villa survive!

Firstly Bacuna's corner is flicked on by Blackett... just too long for Moore to turn in on the far side.

And then Böðvarsson receives on the run from strike-partner Baldock and tries to thread in Meite... just intercepted.

Villa get the game back underway at Villa Park. 0-0 as we enter the second period.

Half-time sub for the Royals - on comes Yakou Meite, replacing Mo Barrow.

And for Villa, Jack Grealish is replaced by Conor Hourihane.

HALF-TIME | Aston Villa 0-0 Reading

No goals at the break, despite good chances for both teams.  Nyland and Mannone have each made some good stops to keep it level.

Böðvarsson wins a free-kick, just outside the area, giving the Royals a chance from a free-kick.

Bacuna steps up against his old side, and smashes a dipping effort towards the bottom corner... good hands by Nyland.

A succession of Reading corners, with one really good chance in there for Liam Moore...

Bacuna's corner is attacked and spills to the centre-half, who drills from six yards - saved on the line by the goalkeeper and hacked away!

At the other end, Aluko tries to put Reading ahead before the break, but fires over.

Baldock the architect with a silky run but the wide-man misses high.

A decent opportunity goes begging for the post - Grealish again with the effort.

The cross from the right comes into a crowded box - Mannone gets a fist on it but it squirms out to the left where Grealish picks up.  He cuts across his first-time effort on the bounce... it's past the far post.

Firm block by today's captain Liam Moore as a shot comes in from the edge of the area.

It was a quick one-two that allowed Jack Grealish to break through the lines but our centre-half positions himself well.

Acrobatic attempt by Jón Daði Böðvarsson - but it's saved by Nyland!

Bacuna won a header after an Aluko corner was half-cleared - a couple of keepy-uppies by Böðvarsson before an overhead kick, but it's well saved.

Still 0-0 as we pass the half-hour.

Break in play as the physios give some treatment to striker Jón Daði Böðvarsson.

The Icelander took a blow to the head as he tried to turn on the break - although no foul was given by the ref.  He'll be okay to continue.

Wishful shouts for a Villa penalty as debutant El Ghazi goes to ground in the Royals box, near the byline.

Ilori and Yiadom had dealt with the danger cleanly and the ref is uninterested.

Thunderous effort by Mo Barrow, as the ball is worked towards the Royals left.

It needed strong palms by Villa stopper Orjan Nyland to push it around the post.

Two chances in succession for El Ghazi on his Villa debut, but two great saves by Mannone!  The second from a tight angle.

And then Villa skipper James Chester hits the bar from range!  All action but no goals... yet.

Huge penalty shout waved away as Böðvarsson is clattered by Bjarnason on the edge of the area... not given!

It was the Villa man's poor pass which allowed Baldock to nip in and charge downfield... the two Icelanders collided but the ref waves it away!

Chance for Villa as they win a corner on their left, as it takes a nick off Yiadom as McGinn comes forward.

Jack Grealish delivers, Mile Jedinak rises to win a deep header, but David Meyler is well placed to hook away.

Good chance within a minute for the hosts - Vito Mannone saves well and clutches at the second attempt!

A high press from the hosts and Moore was caught in possession, allowing John McGinn a run on goal.  Jonathan Kodjia was in support but McGinn opted to shoot, but his effort kept out.

Underway at Villa Park!

Sone Aluko takes the kick-off and we're shooting towards the Holte End.

Teams are out of the tunnel... we're moments away from kick-off!

Come on URZ!

Leandro Bacuna warming up here at Villa Park, where he formerly plied his trade as a Villan.

He'll be in the blue and white hoops today.

A landmark for Liam Moore today.

He skippers the team and makes his 100th appearance in Reading colours!
