Two wins, two draws, no defeats – Aston Villa have begun the season strongly, with no obvious hangover from missing out in the Play-off Final last season.
That included a last-gasp 2-2 draw against Brentford in midweek at Villa Park – and that’s where we’ll be on Saturday afternoon, looking to record our first win of the current league campaign.
Royals striker Jón Daði Böðvarsson – who netted both in our 2-2 draw in Blackburn – is well aware that we’ll be visiting a side which has the potential to challenge at the top end again.
“It’ll be a tough game; Aston Villa will be one of the contenders to go to the Premier League, and they were almost there last year,” said Jón Daði.
“We know that it’ll be a quality side that we’re coming up against, and a difficult away game.
“But that’s what you want. You want to meet quality teams – it motivates us. And first and foremost, we’ll be focused on ourselves.
“We’ll be trying to build on our draw at Blackburn and keep on going. Even though it was only a point at Blackburn, it was our first one.
“The gaffer is bringing in a lot of good ideas into the team so I hope we can deliver for him and the fans, and the club as a whole.”
