Two impressive away displays earned us our first league points of the season last week. Now the Royals boss is looking to two home games as an opportunity to find our feet at the Madejski.
"It was a good confidence booster to come away to a difficult place like Villa Park and get a point. But now it's about our home form - and that starts with the Carabao Cup game on Wednesday against Watford.
"And we’re looking forward to going back to the Madejski. We need to sort our home form out.
"We lost to Derby and Bolton, both by a single goal – but we did have a good win in the Carabao Cup at home and we want to replicate that in midweek against Watford.
"Watford played on Sunday against Crystal Palace, so we went to that game to watch their their style of play and establish what we’ll be doing against them.
"I’m sure they’ll make some changes, which is normal. And we’ll be similar; we'll make soem changes but not massive changes - we’ll put some fresh players in so they’re ready to give everything.
"But the home form is important, that's where we've got to get our wins. Then the points you pick up away from home become really great.
"Two points away from home last week is a big step mentally. We've still got to do a lot better with some of the tactical ideas and technical things. But that's normal.
"Now we want to do well on Wednesday ahead of a very, very important home game against Sheffield Wedneday - a win there would put us in a better situation going into the international break."
