Ahead of the game | Owls in town for league meeting

30 August 2018

As well as hearing from manager Paul Clement and skipper Paul McShane in their programme notes, you'll be able to see an exclusive 10-page feature interview with striker, Jón Daði Böðvarsson!

Here's a glimpse of what the manager has to say ahead of the weekend's game:

"We’ve suffered a little bit in the league so far, but the margins have been very, very fine. We’ve been in and amongst it in every league game this season, losing by the odd goal or drawing away from home.

"We’re not far away from getting good results. We’ve just got to find a way to tip those margins in our favour and start winning by a goal here and a goal there ourselves. We earned a couple of good away points last week at Ewood Park and Villa Park - but now we need a home win!

In our in-depth chat with Iceland striker Böðvarsson, he spoke about everything from playing football against 16 year-olds aged just 6, his summer at the World Cup and plenty more besides!

Here's a sneak peek of Saturday's Long Read...

“The first time I started kicking a ball was when I was probably 6 years old. You had a lunch break at school and the 10th graders would always go and play football for those 20 minutes. I was always watching them play, I was 6 and they were 16, but they always saw me watching and one day they just let me play with them!

“That’s when my love for football started. I moved to Selfoss at the same age as well, it’s a very small town but football is incredibly popular there – everybody loves the sport. That’s when I started training officially.

“I think I’ll always be thankful for these guys who were 16 years old, it was in the countryside so maybe they’re a bit more care-free, they don’t care if there’s a little kid with them playing!”

Our latest historical cover star from 20 years in RG2 is Jimmy Kébé! His brace was part of a 5-0 win against Saturday's opponents back in 2010...

As usual, you'll get the lowdown on opponents Sheffield Wednesday, test your knowledge in our Madejski Men quiz and learn a bit more about another Royal to have made more than 250 appearances for the club, Maurice Evans.

Pick up your copy from one of our sellers around the ground for just £3 this Saturday and get in the know ahead of the big game!
