Experienced official, Gavin Ward will take charge of the Royals' match against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon.
Ward has refereed matches in the EFL since 2007, working his way up to officiate Championship games.
This will be his first Reading match for three years, having taken charge of the Royals' 2-1 victory over Portsmouth in the Carabao Cup back in 2015 - with this also being his first game officiating at Madejski Stadium since December 2014.
The Surrey referee has shown 12 yellow cards in his five matches so far this season, having been in the middle when Swansea took on Bristol City last weekend.
He will be assisted by Matt Foley and Mark Pottage in RG2, with Craig Hicks between the benches as fourth official.
