The Royals begin their 2018/19 Carabao Cup campaign tomorrow evening against Sky Bet Championship side Birmingham City and Dean Whitestone will be the man to officiate all of the action.
So far this season, Whitestone has overseen two games in both League One and League Two.
He has not been shy in getting out his book either, having already given five yellow cards across the two matches and two red cards on the opening day fixture between Bury and Yeovil.
The Northamptonshire-born official last managed a Carabao Cup game in the second-round last season after Fulham exited the competition following a 1-0 defeat to Bristol Rovers at Craven Cottage.
Whitestone’s most recent game overseeing Reading came back in April 2016, when the Royals recorded a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest courtesy of respective second-half strikes from Matej Vydra and Oliver Norwood.
Last season, Whitestone oversaw 39 competitive fixtures, issuing 97 yellow cards and three red cards.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Whitestone will be supported by Kevin Morris, Steven Plane and Daniel Robathan.
