A Reading FC team will be entering the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup this season - the first time the club has entered the competition since 2002.
Our Under-23s will be playing under the Reading FC name in this tournament, with League Two side MK Dons also having entered a squad among a host of local non-league teams in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.
Nearby Berkshire clubs such as Windsor, Maidenhead United, Slough Town, Binfield, Didcot Town, Hungerford Town and Ascot United are all involved in this year's competition.
The Royals were the inaugural winners of the competition all the way back when it started in 1878, and our current crop will be entering the tournament at the Second Round stage.
It's a straight knockout tournament without replays, so ties will be decided on the day by extra time and, if necessary, penalties.
Any match the Royals play in the cup will take place away from home, with the draw having already been made for the First Round and Reading receiving a bye.
Chesham United won last year's tournament, having beaten MK Dons 4-3 on penalties in the final at Stadium:MK - the Royals have won the cup on three separate occasions, the last coming in 1995.
Dates and kick-off times for the competition will be announced in due course.
