José Gomes says he is looking forward to stepping out at Madejski Stadium for the first time on New Year's Day - with Swansea City our visitors.
The Royals' boss says he has been swatting up on Graham Potter's side ahead of their visit to RG2 on Tuesday afternoon - while using training sessions to further establish his style of play with the squad.
The Swans currently sit 13th in the Championship standings, and are winless in their last three matches.
Speaking after the Royals' clean sheet and point at QPR on Saturday, Gomes said: "Tonight, I will watch two matches, then in recovery training I will share some small details with my players.
"We recover, share ideas and prepare for the next opponent. We're on it, we're doing our best and the players are receiving our ideas very well.
"The way is completely open for the things that Reading fans want."
On the subject of the supporters, 1,619 travelling Royals made themselves heard at Loftus Road and Gomes was full of praise for Reading fans.
He hopes to hear our supporters loud and proud for his first home match in charge, with the team hoping to start 2019 in the best way possible.
He said of the travelling support: "Fantastic, really fantastic. They supported their team from the first second to the last.
"I feel like they give energy to the players, we must put this together and push our players to help our players be better on the pitch."
