Reading Football Club can announce that midfielder Adrian Popa has agreed to join Bulgarian top tier side PFC Ludogorets Razgrad on loan until the end of the season.
The 30-year-old Romanian winger signed for Reading from Steaua Bucharest nearly two years ago and has made 9(+8) appearances to date as a Royal, scoring once.
The former FC Universitatea Cluj and CS Concordia Chiajna forward made a similar loan move away from Madejski last January, representing Saudi Arabian side Al-Taawoun before returning to RG2 in the summer.
However Popa has made just one substitute appearance in blue and white hoops this season, replacing John Swift in the 85th minute of our home defeat to Bolton back in August. And he is now set to link up with Ludogorets, the reigning Bulgarian First League champions, for pre-season training after Christmas ahead of a loan deal which will officially begin at the start of February and end on 30th June 2019.
The paperwork remains subject to the normal ratification procedures from the relevant football authorities, but Popa could potentially make his debut in a pre-season friendly against Hungarian side Honved ahead of a competitive opener away to Vereya in the First League.
Everyone at Reading Football Club would like to wish Adi the very best of luck during his loan spell with Ludogorets.
