“It’s tough, but it is enjoyable,” said Dave Edwards after completing a training session in Spain. “It’s a lot easier to get a full session and what you need out of it when the weather is good. At a rainy, windy Hogwood it can sometimes be difficult to get what you want out of a session.
“We’ve had some tough sessions, but they’ve been really good and we’re getting a lot of good work down.
“The work we can get done here, the togetherness that we can create by being with each other for a full week… it has huge benefits.
“I’ve been in the game long enough to know what a week like this can do for a season. Hopefully it’ll be a positive one and we can take it on to Nottingham Forest next Tuesday and then onwards to the rest of the season.
“We’ve been on a really dismal run since the start of December, and we need to put that right. If we can get a positive atmosphere like we’re doing this week, I really hope we can take that into the games.
“The lads are in good spirits, and the main thing is that we’re getting good work done out here.
“A win can do all sorts for confidence. We’ve got so many good players here that I think once we get on a run, we’ll be hard to stop. It’s the first one which is the hardest to get, but we’ll be doing everything within our capabilities to do that.
“We know we have enough quality to be a challenge for any team in the league, but we have to go and show that. We’ve got to start scoring more goals – hopefully we can do that in the remainder of the season.”
