“It’s been tough, but that’s why we’ve come here!” said Chris Gunter after another training session in Spain.
“It’s good to get away and have a change of environment. It allows us to get more quality into the sessions and it’s nice to be away together.
“It’s not just an excuse to come away – there is a reason to it. I know that sometimes people outside football might not fully understand what it’s like when you go away on a tour or a training camp – but as a professional team it can be important to do when you get the chance.
“That’s why teams go away in pre-season, and why when teams get a chance during the season they do it as well. It’ll benefit us a lot and the main aim when we get back home is to show that with an improvement in results.
“As good as morale always is, you can always get it better. There’s no hiding that recently we haven’t got the results we wanted. Even though our job is to stay upbeat and look forward, sometimes to get away and refresh the mind somewhat does help.
“That’ll be the case this week. I’m sure when we get back home and get back to work a couple of days before the Forest game, hopefully there’ll be a bit more of a spring in our step. Ultimately we need to get results.”
