Young Reading duo Jordan Holsgrove and Ben House have both been selected for Scotland’s Under-19 squad ahead of upcoming friendly fixtures with Denmark and Austria.
The pair will link up with the Tartan Army as they head to Spain in a fortnight’s time to get ready for the games – the two fixtures act as preparation for next month’s crucial European Championship qualifiers in the Elite Round stage, with hosts Germany, Netherlands and Norway the opponents. Just one country will qualify for this summer’s tournament in Finland.
Holsgrove has been a regular in Scotland colours at youth levels for the past few years – he was involved in the first stage of the Euro qualifiers, as well as taking part in last summer’s Toulon Tournament.
However it is the first international involvement for striker House – the 18-year-old stepped up to the Royals’ Under-23 squad this summer and so far has found the net four times in 14 matches.
Delighted with my first call up🙌🏽 https://t.co/aHolpi24Ga— Ben house (@housey_97) February 9, 2018
The two Royals’ players will travel with their compatriots – which include a number of players from Rangers and Celtic, as well as Arsenal’s Charlie Gilmour and Everton’s Fraser Hornby – ahead of the two exhibition games.
They will first take Denmark on Tuesday 27th February (3pm UK time) at Top Ten Sports Centre in Lloret de Mar, before meeting Austria on Thursday 1st March (2pm UK time) at the same venue.
All at Reading would like to wish Jordan and Ben the best of luck with Scotland U19.
