It’ll be a case of two Championship clubs meeting in the FA Cup this Friday night when we head to Sheffield Wednesday. And there’ll be Dutch management team in each dugout!
Royals assistant boss Andries Ulderink will have a chance to renew acquaintances with Owls boss Jos Luhukay – who can count Borussia Mönchengladbach and Hertha Berlin as his former clubs – and his assistant and former KNVB coach Remy Reynierse after the pair moved to Hillsborough earlier this month.
“Both teams are struggling a bit more than last season, but they just have a new management team of Jos Luhukay and Remy Reynierse – I know both guys pretty well, so for us it’ll be an interesting game!” said Ulderink.
“I think both teams will want to use the game to gain confidence to take into the upcoming league games because both teams have some really important fixtures coming up.
“I met Jos Luhukay when I went to do my badges – he was also there at the same place at the beginning, but he got a job very quickly in Germany! So he left the course and went there.
“And Remy Reynierse was the one who was giving the course! I’ve met him many times through the years. As well as the importance of the game and our hope of getting through to the next round, it’s also nice to see some former colleagues.
“They have changed their formation a bit on the pitch – they play a bit of a different system to their previous manager. That’s always interesting in the Championship – you often see changes in the way a team plays, so every game is a new challenge.”
