Reading Football Club can announce that our away fixture against Aston Villa, initially scheduled for 3pm on Easter Monday (2nd April 2018), has been rearranged by the EFL and will now take place at Villa Park on Tuesday 3rd April, kick-off 7.45pm.
The latest batch of matches selected for live broadcast on Sky Sports includes Aston Villa's visit to Hull City which will now switch from Good Friday to a 5.30pm kick-off time on Saturday 31st March.
That alteration would allow Aston Villa less than 48 hours between their trip to the KCOM Stadium and a 3pm kick-off at home to the Royals on Bank Holiday Monday. So our fixture against Steve Bruce's side will now be staged on the Tuesday evening.
As a club, we were opposed to moving this fixture, understanding that an evening midweek kick-off may be more prohibitive for a number of Reading supporters who were initially hoping to visit to Villa Park over the Easter period.
However, following discussions between the relevant authorities, it became clear that this fixture change remained out of our control. So now we look forward to a night under the lights at Villa Park on Tuesday 3rd April, kick-off 7.45pm.
