A trip to three-time FA Cup winners Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, where many of the competition’s semi-finals were historically held… Friday’s trip to South Yorkshire offers a real throwback for fans and players alike!

And for Pelle Clement, in his first season on these shores, these are the kinds of games that make playing in England so appealing for a footballer.

“For me, it’s a special thing to play in the FA Cup,” said Clement.  “Everyone thinks about it that way so we’re excited – and it’s another chance for us to get a win and get into that winning mood.

“It was a good win in the replay in the last round – we got some football into the team and it was positive.  Obviously the league is important for us as well, so we need to focus on both.  But the FA Cup is a big chance for us to show ourselves to everyone so hopefully we’ll get to the next round again.

“There are some Dutch players at Sheffield Wednesday as well – we spoke about that before the replay as we knew there was a big chance of getting matched with each other!  So I’m looking forward to it.

“It’s a big stage to show our qualities and give something back to the supporters and show them what we can do and what we’re capable of.”

Like Reading, Sheffield Wednesday haven’t been able to match last season’s successes so far this term.

But Pelle knows that the Royals will need to be at their best if they want to be in contention for a place in round five when the draw is made…

“I’ve learned quite a bit since I’ve been here – I played often towards the beginning but then we have gone through a difficult time,” he continued.  “We but we need to stick together as a team and it’ll work out in the end.

“It’ll be a tough game, away from home… and they have a good crowd as well so it’s going to be difficult.  Every game against a team in the Championship is a difficult one and even more so if you’re away from home.

“So we’ll have to be at our best again to get a result.  It’ll be difficult but we need keep faith and try to play the game that we want to play.  In the end, I think we have the better players so if we work as a team and work for each other, then we’ll do well and I’m sure we can get a result.”
