A nice win in midweek in the FA Cup against Stevenage gave us all a bit of a lift – defeat to Brentford in a closely-contested game on Saturday was a bitter pill to swallow.
Now it’s back to cup action on Friday against fellow Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, and Royals boss Jaap Stam hopes that we can return to Berkshire with our name in the hat for round five and all the positive spirit that comes with it.
“We’ve got a couple of days to recover from Brentford – that’s what we need to do,” he said. “Everybody is very disappointed that we didn’t get at least a point in that one… that’s normal to feel that way.
“So we need to go over to Hillsborough and get a result and hopefully do well in the FA Cup. It won’t be easy over there.
“Sheffield Wednesday are a good side in a good stadium and they have a lot of fans – it’s a good challenge again. First we’ll reflect on Brentford.
“You want to play games and you want to win games to get a better feeling. Last week against Stevenage we had a good feeling, and that goes away a bit because you’re hoping for a better result against Brentford. But it’s always nice to do well in the FA Cup.”
