Lee Herron set to depart for pastures new

Academy Manager to pursue new adventure in football

5 January 2018

Reading Football Club can confirm that Lee Herron is set to leave his position as Academy Manager to pursue a brand new adventure.

Herron, who first adopted the role at the helm of our Academy system in the summer of 2016,  initially joined the club on a part-time basis in January 2001 as a member of its ‘Football in the Community’ scheme and went on to steer it towards its current charitable trust status.

Simultaneously, he made the transition from the Trust to coaching our younger age groups at Hogwood Park and he came through the ranks within our Academy set-up, working with a number of young professionals who would go on to represent the Royals’ first team, before stepping up from his role as Assistant Academy Manager to take the reins from the late Eamonn Dolan as Academy Manager eighteen months ago.

Reading Football Club would like to place on record its thanks to Lee for his hard work during a long period of service within both our lauded Community Trust scheme and our esteemed Category One Academy system. We wish him the very best of luck in his future endeavours in football.
