Icelandic goalkeeper Jökull Andrésson has agreed to sign a professional contract with the Royals when he turns 17 at the end of August.
The 6'4" stopper is set to follow in his older brother’s footsteps and add his name to the professional ranks at Reading; Axel was one of six Academy graduates to make his first team debut last season, coming off the bench to impress in a 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Gillingham last August.
An Iceland Under-17 international, Jökull played above his age category last season to make six appearances between the posts for our Under-18s last season.
And Andrésson will now go out on loan to represent Hungerford Town during the first half of the 2018-19 season.
He could make his Crusaders debut tomorrow night when Hungerford take on FA Vase winners Thatcham Town at Bulpit Lane, in preparation for their National League South campaign which gets underway at St Albans Town in 10 days’ time.
We would like to congratulate Jökull on earning this new contract and wish him the very best of luck during his loan spell at Hungerford.
