Seven days away for the Royals on the continent… a fruitful time of getting work in on the training ground as well as two productive friendly fixtures against Beşiktaş and Rubin Kazan.
“It has been really beneficial,” Paul Clement said on reflection. “We’ve had two high-level games, we’ve stopped at a fantastic hotel and it was a really nice training facility that we used.
“There are really nice people down this way, the weather has been good… we’ll get back to Hogwood and begin preparing for Crystal Palace which is our last preparation game before the start of the season.
“The club have supported us brilliantly in organising a really good trip. These trips involve a lot of financing to get it right, and we’re really grateful for that.
“We hope that it is going to help us at the start of the season.
“We are getting that little bit sharper, and the tactical ideas are being embedded. I’m confident that with another couple of weeks training we’ll be ready for the first game.”
