Vito Mannone says there is plenty of work to do for the Royals before the start of the season, and he hopes to reap the benefits of the squad's trip to Austria.
With Beşiktaş and Rubin Kazan providing European quality opposition for the Royals out in Austria, Mannone is looking forward to the test - albeit with one eye on Derby County at the start of August.
With pre-season ramping up towards the new Championship campaign in just under three weeks' time, the Reading goalkeeper is hoping to use both matches to develop Paul Clement's vision for the squad.
Mannone said: "It's great to play these kind of teams, obviously it's a good test for us but for any team really, we need to get ready for the first game which is Derby.
"Those first three points are available for us so our mentality is to build up this pre-season as a group, fitness wise and the way of playing as well.
"We'll develop the style of play, learning from the gaffer and what he wants, we need to be absolutely ready for the Derby game."
