Royals Academy graduate Andrija Novakovich has today agreed an extension to his contract with Reading, whilst simultaneously arranging a loan switch to Dutch top-tier side Fortuna Sittard.
The striker – twice capped at senior level by the USA – has agreed a contract which runs until the summer of 2020 at Madejski Stadium.
And at the same time, he has also arranged to make a second loan switch to the Netherlands, where he will represent newly-promoted Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie for the 2018/19 season.
Novakovich enjoyed a fruitful spell on Dutch shores last year with Telstar in the second tier; 19 goals in 35 league fixtures made him the second-highest scorer in the Eerste Divisie last season, as the Ijmuiden-based club finished sixth.
And now, both he and Fortuna will be playing a level up in the Eredivisie in the coming season. After finishing second last year and earning promotion to the top flight for the first time since 2002, Fortuna have bolstered their options in attack by bringing in Novakovich this summer.
Our American forward will have the opportunity to pit his wits against the likes of PSV, Ajax and Feyenoord over the next 12 months and gather some invaluable experience on the continent.
All at Reading wish Andrija every success during his time on loan with Fortuna.
