Loader selected for upcoming England U18 friendlies

Qatar, Argentina and Belarus await for Young Lions

15 March 2018

Royals striker Danny Loader has yet again been called up to represent England at Under-18 level, as the Young Lions are set to take on Qatar, Argentina and Belarus in forthcoming friendly fixtures at St George’s Park.

Loader has been selected to Neil Dewsnip’s side for the three fixtures – the first time that this age-group have come together since Loader and his young compatriots won the Under-17 World Cup in India last October.

And once again our 17-year-old forward will be rubbing shoulders with players from some of England’s elite sides.  Amongst the 20-strong squad, there are four from each of Man City, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Youngster Loader has been named in Jaap Stam's squad on five occasions this season - most recently at Molineux in midweek when he was an unused substitute.  His first-team debut, whilst still as a 16-year-old, came in the Carabao Cup against Millwall at the start of the season.

The Young Lions face Qatar for the first of the three fixtures at St George’s Park on Wednesday 21st March.

And then it’s a tough test against Argentina on Friday 23rd March – a nation well-reputed for young talent, and six-time winners of the Under-20 World Cup.  The young South Americans are travelling with their senior team as they face Italy in Manchester later the same day.

England’s final game of the trio of clashes sees them take on Belarus Monday 26th March.
