Yiadom impresses in Black Stars victory!

Royals' new right-back starts in Ghana's win over Japan...

Ghana are not bound for Russia this summer, but Andy Yiadom - set to become Reading's newest acquisition at the start of July - played a full part in his country's 2-0 friendly win over Japan yesterday.

Yiadom played the full ninety minutes and kept a clean sheet as the Black Stars stunned hosts 

Japan thanks to goals from A

tletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Teye Partey and debutant Emmanuel Boateng.

Victory earned Kwesi Appiah's men (the namesake of the former Royals loanee striker) the Kirin Challenge Cup at Kanagawa's Nissan Stadium in Yokohama.

Getting to know Andy Yiadom!

Yiadom was born in England to Ghanaian parents and he only made his Black Stars debut last year in a 1–0 defeat to Egypt.

Andy will come up against Jon Dadi Bodvarsson's Iceland next in another World Cup warm-up game for their opponents - taking on his future Reading teammate on Thursday 7th June. 

These friendlies come ahead of Ghana's next competitive fixture, a September's clash with Kenya in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
