Royals midfielder Josh Barrett has joined Aldershot Town on an initial one-month loan, and the paperwork was complete in time for him to be eligible to feature in today’s FA Cup First Round match at home against Bradford City.
Barrett, 20, was named as Premier League 2 Player of the Month on Friday after putting in some stellar displays for our Under-23s throughout October.
And now he has a chance to make an impact in open-age football in the National League with Aldershot – but that’s not before Sky Bet League One side Bradford visit today in the cup!
The midfielder links up with fellow Royals Under-23 player Gabriel Osho, who earlier this week extended his loan period at the Recreation Ground until the new year after putting in some impressive displays so far for the Shots.
Barrett’s initial loan could see him make as many as six appearances in an Aldershot shirt – beginning with today’s game against the Bantams, and then fixtures against Salford, Barrow, Leyton Orient, Ebbsfleet and Harrogate in the league.
Best of luck to Josh (and Gabe) for today’s fixture against Bradford, as well as for the duration of their loan spells.
