Yakou Meite’s willingness to battle for every ball against Bristol City was the cause of him picking up an early knock – and subsequently being a doubt for our most recent game against Ipswich Town.
But such is his heart and desire, he put in a 90-minute shift against the Tractor Boys after just a single training session – netting two critical goals in the process!
That takes his tally up to six goals in five games… a terrific return for the forward.
“He only trained the day before the game – he was a big doubt going into Saturday,” manager Paul Clement said. “But he’s so determined.
“Yakou showed, from the start, the kind of fighting spirit and attitude that you need to be able to compete. He has that in abundance.
“He showed that in the last game against Bristol City when he actually hurt himself, and he showed it again against Ipswich.
“This season he is proving to be like a really good signing. Last season he wasn’t here – he came back off loan, and we signed him to a new contract because he has a lot of potential. At the moment he is doing really well for the team.”
