Royals host EFL Kids Cup in RG2

Local schools compete in cup competition

14 November 2018

Reading FC Community Trust recently welcomed 16 local schools to take part in Reading's EFL Kids Cup tournament.

The matches took place at The Dome at Madejski Stadium, with the children taking part in a tournament that could see them play at Wembley in the final!

Every club in the EFL organises a Kids Cup tournament, to take place for local U11 kids in the area. Successful teams then advance to area and regional games, before a national phase of the competition that could lead to Wembley for the finals - which happen during the EFL Play-Off weekend at the national stadium.

The EFL Kids Cup is one of the largest national football tournaments for schoolchildren in England, with six-a-side teams from Reading taking part in the early stages of the competition at Madejski Stadium.

Congratulations to the team from Hawkedon Primary School, who were the winners on the day!
