“We know Stoke are a good side – and they’ve got good players,” said manager Paul Clement as he looked ahead to a return to Madejski Stadium on Saturday – the Potters visit at 3pm.
“They’ve been a little bit inconsistent – they have a new manager in Gary Rowett who is trying to find his way with the team.
“But we’re at home, and after the two games that we’ve had on the road, we have to put in another performance – and get the result to follow that!”
Stoke got three points on the board at Derby’s expense on Wednesday, while Reading were unlucky to miss out on getting anything from a visit to Leeds the day before.
Andy Rinomhota is sure that the Royals squad will be able generate the same kind of performance that brought them close against Leeds, but to get a good return on their points-tally.
“We can’t dwell on what happened against Leeds,” Rinomhota added.
“We have to move on and focus on the next game. We’ll prepare right in training and try to get three points on Saturday.
“It would have been good to have got a draw at Leeds, but we’ll go into Saturday with confidence against Stoke. We’ll go in with our heads high and try to continue to perform well.”
