Ahead of the game | Heading to The Hawthorns

West Brom up next in Championship action

5 October 2018

It's the final match before the next international break, with the Royals hoping to go into the gap in fixtures off the back of a win.

West Bromwich Albion vs Reading
Saturday 6th October
3pm kick-off
Sky Bet Championship
The Hawthorns

After a tough loss against Queens Park Rangers in the week, the Royals will need no motivation to try and rectify that result with a strong performance away at West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.

The Royals are unbeaten in their last four matches on the road, but Darren Moore's side will be another tough opponent to face away from home.

West Brom have started the season brightly, sitting just one point off the top of the Championship table and continuing a free-scoring run which sees them six goals clear of the next highest scorers in the division.

The Baggies bolstered their ranks in the week, bringing in free agent and former Crystal Palace forward, Bakary Sako in on a deal until the end of the season, along with securing the signature of Wes Hoolahan midway through September on a short-term deal.

West Brom also have former Royals, Jonathan Bond and Hal Robson-Kanu at their disposal this season, in a squad that has retained plenty of players after their drop from the Premier League last term.

For Reading, Paul McShane, David Meyler and Garath McCleary have all been working their way back towards fitness and will hope to be eligible in some form for the weekend's game. McCleary has stepped up his recovery in recent weeks with minutes for the Under-23s as he hopes to be available for his first Royals appearance since February.

John O'Shea will be available again after suspension, with Tyler Blackett also pushing for a starting berth after recovering from a recent injury.

With three crucial points up for grabs on Saturday afternoon, the Royals will be hoping for a boost to their tally to take into the international break.
