Hampshire-based official Keith Stroud will be overseeing our visit to Swansea City this Saturday – and we have a good recent record when he has taken charge of our away games!
On two occasions Stroud oversaw Royals fixtures away from Madejski Stadium last season… those came in away wins against Derby County (4-2) and Sunderland (3-1)!
In the latter of those fixtures, he dismissed Black Cats man Callum McManaman... the winger had the ball in the Royals net, but he had used his arm to turn it in. A second yellow card followed for the hand-ball and the goal was chalked off.
Before that, in the 2016-17 season, he oversaw three Madejski Stadium matches when each of Burton, Brentford and Leeds were seen off.
Remarkably, this is the first time in almost eight years that Mr Stroud has overseen a league fixture for the Swans. That isn’t to mentioned the three EFL Cup fixtures that he has taken charge of in that period – defeats to each of Birmingham City, Liverpool and Manchester City.
He isn’t shy when it comes to reaching for his notebook. Last season, he took 132 names in his notebook over the course of 33 games – an average of over four bookings per match – and reached into his back pocket for a red card on seven occasions. This will be just his fifth game of the current campaign.
Assisting Saturday’s official will be linesmen Mark Pottage and Dean Treleaven, as well as James Linington on the fourth official’s board.
