Reading succumbed to a 1-0 home reverse to Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday evening – and defender Tiago Ilori and his teammates were left frustrated at not being able to claim a result.
After picking up three points at home against Hull before taking a draw from Brentford, a defeat this time out felt like a stomach-punch.
“The result is obviously disappointing,” Ilori explained. “Now we have to take a good look at ourselves.
“We started slowly again, and that was one of the main problems. That can’t happen. Especially at home, we want to go out and dominate from the beginning.
“After a few decent results, we wanted to kick on and start pushing on up the table. We are getting better, but we need to work out why there is this inconsistency in our results… and try to change that.”
There isn’t long to dwell on affairs; Reading visit West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
The Baggies could be league leaders going into the game if they beat Sheffield Wednesday in midweek – but that isn’t deterring the Royals for going for the victory in the Midlands.
“Tonight it definitely wasn’t what we were looking for… but luckily we have another game in a few days, which will give us a chance to redeem ourselves,” Tiago continued.
“That is a good thing, and we’ll go for the best result we can.
“Three points before the international break would definitely lift our spirits.”
