Reading’s Under-23 side overcame an early setback to win 2-1 at Hogwood Park against visitors Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.
Following a midweek draw in dramatic circumstances against Sparta Prague, a league win against the Potters takes Scott Marshall’s side up to a run of nine games without defeat.
And the victory on Saturday, the third straight win in the Premier League 2 Division 2 standings, puts the Royals second in the standings and just a point behind table-toppers Wolves.
The game was less than three minutes old when Stoke defender Simranjit Thandi opened up a lead for the visitors.
But Michael Olise, a first-year Under-18 scholar who made his U23 debut against Sparta in midweek, levelled things up midway through the first half on his first start at that age group.
And then eight minutes before half-time, Josh Barrett notched his fourth goal of the Premier League 2 campaign – what would prove to be the winner for the Royals.
