Ahead of the game | The Tigers come to town

Time to tip the balance...come and help us get our first home win of the season!

21 September 2018

We want to get back out there and get this first home win of the season as Hull head to the Madejski! And we'll need your help to tip the balance in our favour on home turf...

Reading vs Hull City
Saturday 22nd September

3pm kick-off
Sky Bet Championship
Madejski Stadium

Having picked up our first league win of the season last weekend, we failed to turn that into points at home on Wednesday night as our perforemance against Norwich City frustrated all who were at the Madejski in midweek. Now we have a good opportunity to put it right, just three days later!

Former Royals boss Nigel Adkins returns to RG2 as Tigers boss and a win over his Hull City side would see us leapfrog the Humberside outfit in the table.

Our visitors have one more league win to their name, beating Rotherham United away to pick up victory on the road before collecting their first three-point haul at home against Ipswich last weekend.

In midweek, City suffered defeat too however, losing by the same scoreline as the Royals when Wigan ran out 2-1 winners at the DW Stadium on Tuesday evening - Sam Morsy and Josh Windass rendering Jarrod Bowen's goal a mere consolation.

We welcome back to former Royals loanees - Chris Martin and Tommy Elphick will be back at the Madejski as in the gold of Hull City on Saturday.

Returning the focus to the Royals, Paul Clement hinted at possible changes to an eleven which was unchanged in midweek after the win at Deepdale. There is plenty of competition for places in the squad, with Josh Sims, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Mo Barrow pushing for a return to the eleven.

And loanee Saeid Ezatolahi was an unused substitute in midweek - with a full week's training at Hogwood Park under his belt, the Iran international could feature at the weekend.

Garath McCleary gained more match minutes by playing more than 75 minutes in a U23 friendly against Brentford at Hogwood on Tuesday afternoon - as he works his way back towards match fitness. But Paul McShane joined Vito Mannone, David Meyler and Tyler Blackett on the physio table with a minor hamstring injury this week.
